Hello,

Sorry for the barrage of posts on my first day! Can anybody tell me whether I should be carring out partial water changes during a fishless cycle, or does that just defeat the object by diluting Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate levels?

Cheers.

Hi Ben - again (just answered your post on air pumps)

No you don't want to be doing water changes during fishless cycling - not unless you think you've added way too much ammonia - or if it's dragging on and the nitrate gets very high.

During the cycle, however, you may have to add treated tap water to replace any that evaporates. Since I cycled at 86 degrees, I had to add a few gallons every 9 days or so.
