I would like to start cycling my tank asap the only problem is I’m leaving to go back home in a few weeks and I have to transport the tank in my car for an hour and a half back and forth. The up side is I’ll have 5 weeks to cycle the tank.
I looked into fishless cycling and from what I’m reading it seems like it produces mixed results for more work. I’ll do the same thing as my last tank and just use some cheep “suicide” fish. My plan is to use a few of my roommate’s feeder gold fish to start the tank. Then after they do their job I’ll just give them to his Parana (pore guys)and put the new ones in.
I went out and got a water filter and test kit to get the city water to a usable condition and the feeder fish are on hand. I just wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions or warnings.

I actually have something like that. It pretty much saved my roommates Parana. He didn’t know what cycling was when he got the fish and I wasn’t there when the pet shop owner told him to just get the fish the same day he got the tank.
