Cycling New Tank With Mature Media

Hi, I'm thinking of using some media from my other tank to cycle a new one. Basically I have a few questions.

How much media do I need to put in the new filter?

How long do I have to wait once the new filter is running with the mature media.



I also have another idea, Could I just put the new filter in my other tank and leave it there for a while?

How long would I have to leave it in my established tank untill it was ready to go into the new tank?
And then how long would I have to wait when I transfer it over to the new tank again before I add fish?
