It won;t happen overnight, and honestly if your not adding any fish to the pond, then new bacteria will prob not form on the sponge.... some may spread over to the new sponge but you won't get much as your not increasing the bio-load and the therefore the need for more bacteria.

Plus, bacteria for a pond might not do the best in a tropical setting... used to different temps and might not like the higher temp of the tropics. but i could be wrong bout this..

anyways, just cycle your filter in the tank you intend to use and let it run for about 2 weeks adding ammonia everyday to give food to bacteria that will start to grow.. after a couple weeks if your parameters are in order, then you can add fish

interesting idea. the filter will contain nitrifying bacteria, and so should be able to seed your tropical sponges (better to leave them for a couple of days in the filter so they pick up more bacteria) but i wouldn`t be 100% sure on how well it would work, but it could well be worth a go.

I`m assuming your pond is 100% disease free?

Use the sponges from your pond. Put some ammonia in your tank. See if it processes it in sufficient time. Then you'll know for sure and you won't have to guess.

err yeah i guess the pond is diesease free

the fish here are as old as me 15 years ++ (not actually my pond its my dads)
and i ink i can assume its dieseas free cuz the kois actually have spawned some new smaller kois and the babies are ok
