Hi,
A few days ago started a fishless cycle..after tank has been settling for over a week to clear the water.managed to obtain some gravel from local fish shop.2 days after i started..Added ammonia etc and started a diary on the comp. Last night was not a happy bunny.. On the glass was loads of TRUMPET SNAILS....Picked them off, But this morning same again...On reading about them here and elsewhere it seems almost impossible to rid the tank of them once they are there...I dont wish to spend the rest of my tropical fish hobby with them wee blighters everywhere..Luck however might be with me..As there are no fish in the tank and just a few fake plants,, Today i have drained the tank, BOILED THE GRAVEL and well scrubbed the fake plants in a strong solution of salt.. Also changed all the sponges in the filter and scrubbed the tank..Plants are now soaking in salt wateralong with a few little orniments...Hopefully i will have rid the tank of them wee beggers .. Is there anything else i can do Guys before i refill tank and start once again the cycle.. Should add after the salt treatment and boiling everything has been flushed.. Regards Zac

has,nt happened to me before but i think it will work....sorry to be rude but salt bathing and boiling trumpet kinda destroys them.....obvious.

Hi Sha,
Sadly thats what i wanted to do.. they were all tiny ones .. had been picking them off but this would have been a endless exercise...Seems they are impossible to be rid of other than drastic measures..have seen posts where a cute couple of trumpet snails were hundreds in no time.. (Sorry trumpet fans) But sterilizing the gravel and a good scrub up might just might do the trick.. No more gravel from that shop.. Regards Zac
