Been running a fishless cycle now for about 6 weeks, i don't have a water test kit myself but my LFS has been very helpful !

Over the last few days my rocks started getting brown algae, along with green algae on the top, now i know this isn't a dead cert that the tank is ready cycled but i'm guessing it's not far off.

Just had my water checked a few days after a 70 % water change and apparently all my levels are fine, if slightly acidic but this is due to the large rocks in the tank apparently !

Do you think i will be fairly close to adding some fish ?

It's a 3ft, 130L 3ft Fluval btw, so maybe some ideas of fish !

I was dead set on a parrot but apparently tank is too small :z

So you have been adding ammonia or something to produce ammonia, right?

algae is common in new tanks, especially cycling ones because of the high nitrates.

What are all your levels, have your LFS write them down, because sometimes what they say is fine isn't.
so your levels of ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, then we will know if it is fully cycled or still cycling :) .

thankyou mate, will try get the info from them tommorow !!!

Yep, I agree with benniebru. Pick up a test kit, the one that seems to be used the most on here is the API master test kit if you can't find that one any liquid test kit will do. Just make sure it is liquid, cuz the strip test kits are not very accurate.
