Got my cycle over with (for now ). Have just taken in 13 fish , i know this is more than you should add in one go and especially when it is a new tank . They came from someone who needed them all gone and if he couldnt get someone to take them , well they were done for . So this was a rescue mission . Got to admit though that i do like them .

2 red turqoise discus
1 pigeon blood discus
1 cobalt blue discus
1 angelfish
2 gold barbs
1 pineaple swordtail
1 spanner barb
1 redtailed shark
1 gibbiceps plec
2 butterfly fish

All these fish were in the same tank and had been for awhile . I had a common plec and 2 mountain minnows in my tank already . Ive already been told the minnows are likely to disapear .

The discus are my main worry . Im going to see how i get on for a few days , if things look bad im going to take them out and someone else to take them . Im planning daily water changes to keep the ammonia and nitrite levels down till the bacteria catch up with the sudden increase .

Ive rescaped the tank to try and create more hiding spots for them aswell .
Heres some pics

Looks fantastic :good:

love how you redecorated, looks amazing frankly.

And you know that I already approve of the rescue mission, daunting but better than what they were going to get.

And I absolutely love that photo of the RTBS on your Plec, fantastic!!

Got to say mate, well done!

Thanks rusty . Now the hard work starts , going to test daily so i know whats happening in there .

The 2 plec and the shark seem to spend all there time together . I knew all the new fish were ok together but was a bit worried my plec would have thrown his weight around abit when they showed up , to stamp his territory out . But he seems to be happier and more active since they arrived .

Yeah, some things you can never predict can you.

And the hard work will definately be worth it, you've given these guys a second chance, and they're all gorgeous fish.

Beautiful tank and beautiful fish! Great photos! Congratulations!

How large is your tank? How long did you cycle it for?

I have two plecos like yours and a red-tailed shark also. Sometimes, the shark seems to be "cleaning" the plecos.

Nice rescue mission Paul :good:

Looking at those Plecs brings it home to me just how small mine is. S/he is 25-30 mm long max atm

Its a 294 litre tank and took just over 4 weeks to cycle . Readings have been constant for over a week now . Changing water everyday at the moment due to fish increase though. They havent risen yet but im sure they will .
I know what you mean mark , the shark does seem to cling to the plec . There like mother and baby

I bought a plec today, Really nice fish, It is almost fully grown, Anyway Nice fish.
