cycle is starting to take forever

How long does it usually take to do a fishless cycle with ammonia? I dont have any filter media or gravel form an established tank, so I knew it was going to be a while, but the nitrites levels are still off the charts, and the nitrates are still hardly showing. my last test (sunday) was
Ammonia - .25
Nitrites - 5.0 (my test tops out there)
Nitrates - 5.0
PH - 8.0 (thankfully it finally went down)

It has been cycling for about 5 weeks now.

It probably won't be much longer now. As you noted, it takes longer when you don't have any established media to kick start the process, and the stage you are at (high nitrite phase) takes the longest. Hang in there!
