Well the day to purchase my first fish is nearly here, my 240L tank is now offically cycled:)

Now, I just want to make double sure my next steps are correct.

- Turn temp down to desired level.?

- Do a large water change 80%? to rid the tank of a large portion of the Nitrates that have built up?

- Test paramiters

- Add fish Tomorrow

Would you guys say thats about right? from other threads it seems to be right but i am pretty nervous about adding fish, so I want to make sure I am doing the right thing!

Yes, that sounds right; congrats on finishing!

How exciting! What fish are you going to be getting?

Indeed, you are done! Big congratulations :)

In addition to your plans, its recommended to continue dosing ammonia right up till the day before you get fish, so if your plans change about getting them tomorrow, you will need to dose (even just a little, perhaps 1-2.5ppm would be sufficient.)

So! What ya getting? :)

Thanks guys - very excited tbh:)

As for what I am getting that is still somewhat in the air, I was planning on Tiger barbs and maybe some other fast moving schooling fish but now I'm thinking five banded barbs, a bit more peaceful, which would allow for more options as tank mates:)

I will update with my choices after a bit more research and when I finally decided later tonight:)

Got some of my fish:)

Ended up with:

12 5 banded barbs
6 Ember Tetra
6 Fireline Tetra

Well happy, they look very nice especially the Firelines:)

Going to go back to LFS tomorrow to add just a few more:)

Congrats your done!

Cheers:)

It's quite amazing, I have been sitting staring at my tank for the last 3 hours (on & off) at first they seemed very nervous, to be expected I suppose but now the are all schooling, swimming about and exploring, it's brilliant:)

Well impressed with the Fireline Tetra, anybody else have any of these? I had never heard of them before today.

I'm not sure if that is a nickname for the Flame tetra, but I'm getting some of them after my 10 gallon tank is done cycling. :)

Just did a bit of research, they are not flame Tetra, proper name is "hyphessobrycon amapaensis" not to much info on the net about them but they are beautiful little fish! Good luck with the cycle:)

Thanks! I'm almost done witch is good. My bio-filter can eat 1.5ppm of ammonia and nitrite in 24 hours! I'm aiming for 4ppm in 24 hours. :)
