Cyanobacteria

I saw stuff in the lfs that claims to kill this off. Am I doing enough by running a fork through the sand near the glass and syphoning it up? It seems to start coming back after a few days.

Several 'algae killers' claim to get rid of it but wont.. they are an algaecide.

The only one that works that I have found is made by Colombo called 'Aerocol' (although newer packaging should read 'no more blue algae' or somethnig like that).
