Well I am almost done with my tank hoods but I am making them so the top isn't wood, but instead, eggcrate. I was thinking of either the table saw or a bandsaw. I could always use a wrasp to make it smooth on the ends. What have you guys used to cut it?

Big bladed wire cutters...

If you want to trim an entire length of it there's a little trick. Stand the egg-crate on-end so that the edge you want to cut is vertical. Then take a butcher knife and literally drive the knife from top to bottom in a quick hard almoast hammer/axe like motion right along the seam you want to cut at. Takes a bit of practice but works GREAT
