Curviceps (Dwarf Flag Cichlid)

i bought 3 of these little guys about 2 months ago and i was wondering when do they start to show the coloring that i see in the numerous pictures and videos that i see online. my water parameters are ph 6.9 and my ammonia/nitrate/nitrite are 0. also the tank is heavily planted.

I have a breeding pair of these, they seam to colour up for a short time then go very dark when breeding. Mine are very shy fish so you have to give them cover so they feel safe to look there best.

yeah they definitely have a lot of cover and they seem to be very comfortable (they constantly beg for food whenever any goes near the tank even if they were just fed.) I think mine are juveniles still (just shy of 2 inches) and only get dark when they feel like it. Do they color up more once they mature or only when spawning?
