one of my guppies i noticed this morning has a really curved back, it drops down by her tail. I always thought there was something wrong with it because it was alot smaller than my other guppies but my mum said she might just be younger than the others.
Anyone know what to do all the others seem fine. i dont have a quarentine tank for her to go in either.

Hi there,

I used to find that happened to my guppies who had been stressed out from mating too much and possibly carrying babies for too long.

Whats your ratio of male to female guppies?

Paul.

i was breeding guppies as a hobby (until i ran out of tank room) and some babies will develope spine abnormalities if raised in a tank without light as a baby. If your guppy is a female you may even be able to see the spine and you can look for a curve. if the curve is so severe that the fish cannot function (eat, swim, come to surface) normally you may want to go to a fish store to ask about this. I'd say that if your fish is eating and swimming normally and it was not a sudden change then you have nothing to worry about. if it was a sudden change it could be an illness that i am unfamiliar with and you should ask a fish store what they think it is and if there is any medicine for it. If you don't think that she has spine abnormalities but is still acting quite normal then i agree with the above poster.

Has she given birth recently at all or look like she has? What are her activity levels like?

she still swims well and eating etc. but i think it got gradualy worse rather than overnight.
She is alot thinner than my other females aswell. ratio is 1 male to 6.
A few days ago there was a random baby in the tank when none of my fish looked pregant, maybe its possible it was hers.
When i got her she was smaller than the rest but seems to be getting worse

She could have suffered a stressful birth or birthing complications, i had a female guppy die not so long ago from similar circumstances and symptoms (she stayed pregnant for about just under 2months, only to drop about 40+ fry of which about 20+ survived, she was in a pretty poor state after giving birth and had symptoms the same as your female's).

My advise would be too feed a high energy diet to your guppys of frozen bloodworms, krill, daphinia as well as algae wafers or a frozen vegetable cube mix for fish (all these foods should be able to be obtained from your lfs) to aid digestion.
Using StressCoat dechlorinator in your next water changes as well as bulking out the planting a bit in the tank will also help ease her distress.

On the other hand, if its not a birthing complication thing, its most likely an internal bacterial one- however adding meds could be very stressful at this stage especially if it is a birthing complication thing. What color is her poop?

her poo is like a brown/red colour. I only have freeze dried bloodworm, would that be ok? i do have algae wafers too.

She does seem slower than the others though and is last in line for any food which they all gobble up quickly.

im kind of waiting for it to happen now. She is getting really thin and her spine does looked curve inside.
