Fish Crazy
Well we discovered the ick in our tank last night, we decided to go with 80ish degrees and increased salt for 10 days to try and squish it. We moved out the snails and my crawfish. Then in 4 steps about 6 hours apart we have tripled the normal salt lvl for a tank our size. I have the heater set for 86 since my thermometer is on the opposite side of tank and is reading around 80. ( I am gonna get a better thermometer tomarrow just have a suction cup bb weighted one)
So far we have only lost 1 female guppy (I cant find her or a body so its trapped somwhere) and 1 guppy fry. I do not think the platys that carried it in are going to make it either.
Our mollies other guppys and all thier fry seem to be doing better though. They have formed a fish cloud around my heater so it must feel realy good to them. I am hoping we can get out of this with no more losses beyond the 1 guppy and 2 platys that showed the obvious signs of the disease.
We do have one molly with what looks like a cyst on her mouth thats made it swell she in particular will not stray from the heater. She is also my wifes favorite so If I am missing anything I should be doing and am not please let me know.
Oh we also have 3 clusters of snail eggs on the lights of our tank so I am hoping the increased salt will not insta kill them if they hatch.
Thanks for the informative posts around the forum let me find what to do quickly.
