I have a 20L tank fitted with an internal filter in which I am trying to breed apple snails. Would I be able to cultivate live Daphnia in there too or would they get sucked up by the filter?
What do you feed them? I'm planning on keeping them in a small pond this summer. I would assume they would feed on any algae blooms? I would feed them as much as possible, and collect and mosquito-egg rafts that ended up in the water, and then when winter started to come around, collect all the daphnia and freeze them. Sorry to hijack your thread... )

They do best on green water, but algae is good too. If you're having problems you can feed them some yeast too. I keep a light on them at all times and I add dirty tank water to their container when I do water changes.
I think they would definately be sucked up by the filter...just get a rubbermaid tub and stick a light strip on top
