Cucumber

i have to fancy tail goldies in my tank i feed them flakes and the occasional cucumber but how long should the slice of cucumber stay in for, will it not go manky after a while and pollute the water

i leave it in for a couple of days then remove it. you could also try shelled, squashed, boiled peas, lightly boiled lettuce. occasional bits of fruit like apple or orange and banana. but remove any fruit after 12 hours.
