I have recently added 6 Guppys to my tank, alreadly having 3 small catfish (corydoras). I have read that Guppys need a vegetable componant in their diet and i have been told i can add cumumber. At the moment the Guppys are happy grazing on Catfish plecowafers on the ground, but the catfish are worried about interfiering the guppys to feed (they also swim away if a guppy comes to feed next to them). I wondered that if i added cucumber then would the guppys and catfish enjoy the selection or should i add another plecowafer for more food. What will they both enjoy most?

I was also wondering if cucumber will turn my white gravel to green and stain it and also algue my tank. What happens if it rots?

Thanks

Dont leave it in too long. I take mine out after half a day, some people recommend removing it quicker than that.

Have you tried blanched peas? Frozen peas in a cup, pour boiling water over them. Leave for a few minutes, then squish them into the tank. They will probably eat the middle and not the outer shell. All my fish love these.

:good: THANKS! Im going out tomorrow so will try to get a plant weight or sumit to hold it down. Will the cucumber stain my white gravel?

It shouldn't. You might get some detritus around the cucumber if you leave it in too long (I leave mine in for 24 hours), but a gravel vac will pick that up.

I use Fish Gum Drops Variety pack it has a vegetable diet in it aswell as brine shrimp and bloodworms all my fish love them. Its a San Francisco Bay Brand they sell it at Petsmart and Petco.
