alright, i'm just going to jump right into this one. one of my friends pointed out that breeding monitor with dolce (pink female) would be an awesome match. there's just one problem, she's a VT and he's a CT. i know this has been done, but doesn't it reduce the quality of the babies?

if i was to do this, i wouldn't want to sell these fry to the store since they're crossed, so would anybody be interested? they'd be cheap, since i just want to find good homes for them (i know you guys would do that for me) so probably $2-3 plus shipping.

let me hear your opinions on CT x VT breeding and if you'd be interested in fry :good:

Looks like you have a CT female.. so why not just breed the 2 CTs to get better quality?
I'd take some off your hands if I could, but I can't unfortunatly :(
Good luck with whatever you decide to do though! :good:

i know i have a CT, but colorwise, the other two would go together better.

Since there all pet store bettas and they're backgrounds are completely unknown you'll get a whole random mess of colors regardless of who you breed together. Would be a better idea to breed the 2 cts so at least you get some kind of decent finnage. Or your best bet if you really want to breed would be to buy an inexpenive but quality pair somewhere, I have some pairs for sale, and I know that jenn (luvmybetta) is having a sale on crowntails.

you know i myself was wandering the same question. i would take the babies. then what if you crossed it back to a crowntail?

i was told if you crossed a CT x VT with a CT, you'd get mostly CT babies, depending on dominant genes or whatever. you can't believeanything my biology teacher says  .

i am not buying more at the moment. i would have asked if i was planning on it. i don't have the money to spend $30 on a fish.

If you don't have $30 to buy new fish, you don't have money to breed either. It is not cheap to breed. I agree it would be better to breed the 2 Ct's you have. But I don't really think you should breed any of your fish. Also the Vt female would not be a good color match to your male. you would get multi's with any of your fish. Not trying to be mean. You asked for opinions. your best bet would to save up some money and get a well matched pair, or at least a matching Ct female for one of the males you already have. If they all came from a pet store than you have no idea of their genes, and you will most likely get multis anyway.

i have the tanks i need, so i don't need to buy them.
i asked for opinions on my pair, not whether or not i have the money. too bad it's not my fault my family doesn't have a load of money to spend on top-of-the-line fish like your families/you do.

I would not mix tail types. If you did I might get one from you but still its not a good idea if you ask me. I dont have to mch money on my betta budget either but I get by:)

what's the face for? i can't help that my parents don't want to spend money on expensive fish and that my job does not pay enough for me to pay board for my horse and buy those top-quality fish.

Well, you can only do as much as you can afford to do. If you can only afford to have pet store bettas, then you can only afford to keep bettas as pets. My family is far, far from being rich. I'm a college student and don't exactly have much cash to spend either. I choose what I spend what money I *do* have on... and the fish always win. It's my only hobby that involves money because it's all I can afford to do if I want to do it right. It's about responsibility... would you breed two mutt dogs despite the millions put to sleep every day? I'm sure you wouldn't... so why would you do it with bettas?

I work for everything I have, my parents do not like my fish hobby, do not support it, and most certainly would not even help pay for it. If you can't afford to buy a quality pair, then you shouldn't breed, bottom line, why just create more homeless bettas?

Totally Agree :good:
