Hello recently my crypt has been losing leaves its a huge crypt over a year old and now it is dropping leaves like crazy
should i add a root tab? maybe he is out of nutrients
all new crypts doing fine
i havent moved him since i got him

Pictures?

Don't move crytpocoryne plants because they go into shock when you pull them out of the ground and move them about.

Most rotting leaves are caused by sudden changes in the water chemistry or if old terrestrial leaves are rotting underwater.

Make sure the pH, GH and KH haven't changed over the last few weeks/ months (however long the leaves have been rotting for).

Try adding aquarium plant fertiliser if you haven't added any for a while.

ok yeah they need some root tabs they are complaining a bit havent added them for like 4 months

i have not moved him or changed water chemistry lately

If it dies back, be patient. I had hundreds of crypts vanish after an icestorm, natural disaster chilled my tanks almost to freezing (1 degree celsius when the heat came back on). Over the next year and a bit, most returned, and I still have that line of C wendtii going 25 years later. Somewhere in there is an incredible degree of resilience, for all the leaf dropping habits.

It's a good thing I wasn't a substrate cleaning fanatic back then.
