Hi All

Just a quick question to see if this has ever happened to anyone else.

I planted new crypts probably just over a week ago, now this friday they seemed to be ok, CO2 running via nutrafin, lights on timer, went away for weekend, returned Monday and the majority of the new and some of the older crypts have just melted and died completely.

I do know that Crypts can melt after being moved but in 2 days I just do not understand how this occured so quickly.

Anyone have any ideas?

I may have had a power cut, not sure though, would 2 days of no lights cause this? but if there was a powercut then the filter would have been affected, correct? All fish are fine.

Thanks
Dave

Crypt melt is pretty quick to be honest. I would say its just crypt melt :)

Cheers, oh well off to get some more tonight, have never had a problem apart from this batch, maybe left out of water for too long.

Well not looking good at the moment, 2 days and they seem to be doing exactly as they did before, they are melting again.

As this has not happened before, what are the main causes for Crypt melt, does the depth of the substrate make a difference?

Crypt melt is fine. Just clear out the melted leaves and leave them planted. They will start growing back :) Crypt melt is basically the plant adjusting to new water conditions. It sheds it's leaves and grows new ones, so don't bin them just yet!
