I have a simple question really. I have 3 cryptocoryne broad leaf plants and the largest has 12-13cm long leaves which are red and have healthy looking 'veins'. However, smaller green leaves form in places and I was wondering whether these leaves are healthy foilage or leaves which are not taking in c02?

I remember reading somewhere that this plant's leaves go red to indicate it's got enough c02, so why are some leaves green?

Here is a pic of the plant:

I don't know the scientific answer (although I'd like to! :hey: ) But these 'baby' leaves will start off green before turning red as they develop. Very healthy looking plant :good:

after further reading, it seems 'Anthocyanins' is the key word. I am guessing that new leaves are predominantly green due to an abundance of chlorophyl required for its growth. Once grown the leaves then develop Anthocyanins for whatever reason!
