Does anyone have any experience with crypt rot? My crypt started to die off and lose a lot of leaves. Instead of it rotting away and making a mess I just clipped all the leaves off about an inch from the bottom. I've read that they should start growing back in a few weeks. Is it ok to snip them like I did?

I've had a few leaves start to die off for an unknown reason on one of my crypts. I've snipped the leaves from the base and haven't had any troubles. So I guess it would be ok to do that. Not sure what the difference between dying leaves and crypt rot is all about though, it's sort of mysterious. Although, it's likely that it's best for the plant to trim the leaves as close to the base as possible.

It's almost like the plant is melting away. Now my other two crypts are doing the same thing. It must have something to do with me moving my tank. I had to empty most of the water and maybe the plants shifted around a bit while moving. I've read that they don't like being moved around. I guess I'll just wait and see if it grows back. My other plants seem to be doing ok.

Yep, this is true. Although Cryptocorynes are easy plants to keep, they still appreciate stable water values. When you do water changes, do not throw new water over Cryptocorynes.

And if leaves melt away, don't touch to the root. Normally it starts to grow new leaves.

Now all my crpyts are melting away. Hopefully they all grow back. It's making a bit of a mess right now.
