hi, i have been looking at 'trees' made out of driftwood with moss on top and would like to try one. unfortunately, i have SAE's, so i can't use moss. And then i saw that crypts can be attached to rocks, so why not driftwood with crypts on top?

do you guys think this'd work? and which crypts would be best?

also, i was thinking of possibly Limnophila sessiliflora 'trees'? as i have some L. sessiliflora floating, which has gone a really nice red colour at the top. i thought it'd be a good alternative to moss?

cheers :good:

Hi,

Personally, I think Anubias would be a better option, there are loads of species some of which flower, and with different leave sizes, they can be tied to wood and grow and form tight, densely packed canopies of leaves.

Crypts would be no good at all aesthetically, have you seen the size of the roots on a crypt. You have to remember the root systems on these plants. As above, Javas and Anubias wood be best.

that's a shame, i thought it'd look quite cool. just another crazy idea i suppose.

cheers :good:
