A fair few of my new crypts melted within days of planting however this isn't he problem  The problem is everytime they try to grow new shoots something seems to be eating all the new growth

Is there anyway around this? I've got a hunch it may be the Keyholes but I'm not 100% I considered regrowing them in my spare tank but then wont they just remelt when I move them back to the main tank?

Yeah, I love crypts but the melting leaves thing isn't a pleaser.
I have no idea if your fish are eating the new growth. You could try doing what you suggested. Grow them in a different tank and hope that when you move them, the melt won't be that bad.
