No one on here is cruel to there fish. But many people are...Lack of information I am guessing. Read this and start tell the world on saving the Betta Fish!
As many Betta fish lives start out on huge breeders who keep them in small containers to save room, Not all breeders do this but some do. It sickens me to see Betta Farms with TINY living quaters for the fish. All the breeders think about (In these cases not all) is money, money, money. Now the fish lives its live in that small container being bred time after time with no end. But the Pet stores. Poor fish, not truely cared about in these states, are to old to breed and get shipped off to a pet store. And also some fish the breeder does not want for a breeder get shipped off to a pet store as well. As if they where not even cared for...

After the shipping to the pet store, the fish is put into an EVEN SMALLER cup. Stacked and piled onto a shelf. Poor fish could just live the rest of there life in a pet store. Being fed and cleaned very little (In some cases) the fish will die early if it is not lucky. Betta Fish should be giving love and affection not stacked on a could, hard shelf, and be sold.

After being sold, the pet store gives info to the buyer. Usally they will point out an extremely small tank and say it is perfect. But I think not...The fish is sold, sold again, and this time these are the size of the breeder containers. So the fish is UNHAPPY in them.

Some pics I took of my own fish right after they came home from the pet store.

I am sorry if this article offended a breeder, It is not meant for every pet store, breeder, and owner out there. I am sorry if it offended anyone.

I already knew most of that; (I'm not a breeder btw).
But yeah, not all petstores treat 'em like that. But most do, sadly. :(
Wow, lately there's been a lot of these topics (on Betta cruelty). It definitely needs to have some action taken on it, though. I hope more & more people will rescue those horribly-treated Bettas & give them better homes.
A lot of people on here have been rescuing them; one only lived a few hours but still, she gave him a better life. ;)
But it seems like it's almost everywhere...seeing Bettas in smaller cups...ah, it's horrible.

But you know what's weird? It's animal cruelty.
But like, not a lot of action has been taken on it! But if a petstore was treating a dog or cat or something else wrong, then they'd definitely do something about it... (most of the time anyway). People think a fish is just a fish & can live in any condition. Fish deserve lives just like all the other animals out there. Ughh it's a shame.

Maybe rather than just venting to each other (which is also important to raise awareness) maybe we should be bringing this issue up with our local councils there are people here from all corners of the world so united we may be able to make a difference.

Well, at least those cups have filtration in them  If breeders were not in it to make the money, we wouldnt have that many breeders now, and fish prices would be pretty bad so please dont blame the breeders. Many breeders are from overseas, and that is the only thing they are good at(not much free education) If breeders didnt keep them in small containers, they would lose out because they would have less merchandise, and they suffer themselves. If you want to see a human suffer instead of a fish, go on ahead and try to get the breeders to get larger containers to put their stock in.

Yes, I do have a petition. If someone had a link to it, that would be great! Becausegot the link:(

eIt was not reffering to all breeders...Just some...But the pet store thing is true in one of the ips near me. They do not take care of there fish (At all) they clean the tanks (Not the bettas though) and thats all they do. The other pet store is great though beBause ALL the fish get adopted, the tanks are clean, the fish are fed, its great.
