Hi, I've never had a crowntail before and now I have the one, three plakats, and six veiltails. The crowntail is so docile compared to the others. He sits in one spot for hours, while my others are zipping around their tanks. Is this normal and I'm just not used to crowntails, or is he sick?

FYI-this is one of my "gay" bettas who enjoys the company of other males

u shud try to breed the gay one.. and start a fruity gay breed of bettas

Wouldn't that be awesome if you could have a whole tank of male bettas that got along? :flex: The best part would be, if they were gay, they'd always be flaring...gay men always look their best.

My male Crowntail is always flaring at his reflection and he can be aggressive acting. Never heard of a gay Betta though.

I lucked out and found two that love each other  I won't leave them alone if I can't supervise though. Sorry if that's being prejudiced. I can get the crowntail to flare at a mirror, but that's the only time he's excited. I should add too that when I found Heist (crowntail) and Oliver (veil) together, Heist was the one that migrated over. Still don't have a clue how he did it. I guess love has no bounds

That's so kewl, i wish i could get a couple of those gay bettas.

Oh and to your original question. I think he is heart broken since he can't be together with his dear partner. :p

Okay serious answer, Bettas tend to relax a lot, so is normal to see them lying in the tank no moving at all. Just make sure he isn't relaxing 24/7, if he does so he might be ill.

What size is his tank? Is it heated?
My crowntails became more active since i bought them heaters, i even think a 2.5 gallon tank is too small for them the way the go on, however they do have long quiet times where they either suspend themselves in their hanging plants or go or just float, keep an eye on him if he is staying still for a looong time and not swimming around at all he might be ill.... I lost one of my bettas this week, he was like that i never saw him swim he just floated there looking miserable..... *sigh*
anyway xxx crossing fingers xxx for ya, keep us updated :)

He's in a ten gal that is divided in three parts, so he shares it withtwo other bettas. It is heathed and filtered.
