I started cleaning my 55 gall tank today and spotted a fry. Not that it's unusual to find fry in any of my tanks, but this is Cecil's tank (my white albino/koi male swordtail). Cecil has 5 lovely lady friends, a lovely red eyed koi female (tancho markings - 1/2 red 1/2 white), a wicked red eyed coral red lyretail female, a simple (but charming) orange lyretail female and 2 pineapple lovelys (a reg finned and a lyretail).
The "Pineapple Girls" presented me with fry on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so I can rule them out as the mother, the orange lyretail is young and hasn't shown any signs of being pregnant (and Cecil pretty much ignores her) and the coral red is still looking pretty plump. The koi female however appears to have lost some weight since yesterday.
I'm not going to jinx myself by saying it though... (Annastasia and Paulthegreat know what I'm hinting at!)
Unfortunately, I only found 3 of the little pure white babies, but 3 is better than none! Can't tell for certain about the eye color yet, in one light they looked red but in another light they look black. I'm hoping I'll find some more tomorrow but 3 is just fine for now!
