Visited our lfs today and (amongst other things  :hey: ) we picked up some daphnia.

As we put the daphnia into the tank, we saw a little black/brown beetle swimming down into the tank. He looked like a Water Boatman, or possibly a Diving Beetle.

Picture herewith (with him next to a 10p coin)...

.

We were surprised that he came in with the daphnia.......and perhaps even more surprised that we didn't spot him when we rinsed it before introducing it to the tank...... :S

We will look more closely next time.............. :*)

eep  I guess that's a risk with buying live foods... unfortunately nowhere around here seems to sell live foods (except for white worms) so I dont have that problem.

It looks very much like a water boatman to me

Looks like a Water Boatman to me!
You see tons of those up here in the Summer, especially when you are on the lake at night!
Not that I do that sort of thing

Yes thats a water boatman Im pretty sure.

If it is, make sure you dont have any more in your tank because they a predatory and aggresive!! They may bite your fishes
