ok, the smaller orange and yellow guy was born probably almost a month before the bigger swords (last summer). it's amazing how much smaller he is than they are! speaking of the little guy, when he was a fry, i assumed he was a sword, because the only male in the tank was a sword, but as he's grown up (a little), he doens't look anything like a swordy. is he a molly?

No i doubt it because from what i have gathered you simply don't get red as a color in mollys- the most you will ever find is perhaps some specs of red in an orange molly.
I think it is probably more likely that "he" is a "she"- females usually take longer to mature in livebearers than the males, either that or he/she is just at the bottom of the pecking/feeding order and has never had much food to grow on.
Either way, wether a female or male i would exchange her/him or separate it from the parent or any closely related fish to stop it from inbreeding with other fish; inbreeding an cause alot of bad complications in fish including lowered imune systems, high fry death rates, increased chance of pregnant fish miscarrying fry and birth deformitys/defects etc.

he's a male, he's got the gonopodium (or however you spell that) and the only three livebearers in that tank are fry from different parents--and three males. the small one was the first to show that he was a male too.

sorry i couldn't see very clearly in the pic; he may just be at the bottom of the feeding order though as mentioned although could just be him- either way though there isn't much you can do to make him grow any faster than what he is other than perhaps try feeding them some high nutrition foods...
What do you feed him/them at the mo?

they're in with my caucatoides, so they get the same food--cichlid flakes, and frozen food (bloodworms, tubifex worms, brine shrimp, plus two other i can't remember) and they also pick at the pleco's algae wafers
