crazy platy

I have a platy that is about 4 wks pregnant and it seems that whenever i come into the room she starts to dart all around the tank till she hits something, she also does it when i've been in the room for 5 min. watching her. i got her a week ago and she just started to do that yesterday. Is she still getting used to the tank or is she too stressed from something?

Try standing as far from the tank as you can. More than 5 feet and the fish can't see you. Sneak in and keep a close eye for a while. If she's doing it only when she sees you, it's stress - she's "attacking" to protect herself. Platy's get aggressive for a little just before they give birth.

But, if she's doing it all the time regardless of whether you're there (and no other fish are hassling her), a platy zipping randomly around the tank is normally pretty sick. They do that just before they die, although I've not seen one do it for a long period of time...

she only does it when she sees me. Whew! I think though me going in there so much has stressed her enough for now, i'll check up on her in and hour or so.

Platys are funny and mardy at times, even worse when they are pregnant, hormones on over drive.

I think i stressed her out too much, she is just hovering and inch above the rocks.
Is this a bad thing?

Just leave her to settle down as a stressed fish can become ill, and also she could abort if stressed for to long.

Not sure if she is going to make it, Still sitting/resting on the bottom of the tank. Haven't gone into the room for a few hours so i wouldn't stress her out. Could she drop her fry uner these conditions?

Oreo (the platy) just had babies!!!!!!!!! So excited. Didn't get to see it though, was fixing the light of my birthing tank with my dad. So now we really have to work hard on it to get it fixed.
