I just went to go check on my fish, AND..... I found my female BN pleco, and she seems to be pineconning. How can I stop this? I feed them Zuchinni and Sprinula Tablets everyday, so how is this possible? PLEASE HELP! Its a breeding female!

Have you checked your water stats mate? Do a water change and try maybe feeding some cooked shelled peas.

Dropsy (pineconning) can be due to an internal infection and organ failture.

Only suggesting peas in case its more bloatedness than pineconning, if they dont work, you may need a internal bacteria med (dont know whatsa available over there).

Once scales stick out that usually the last stage of dropsy organ failure.
All you can do is epson salt baths to help draw the fluids out.
A bacterial med in issolation like maracyn plus.

This may sound silly, your sure she is just not overly egged up if she's a breeding female?, ive seen some very huge egged up BN's in my time.

This is a real possibility, especially if she has spawned before. I'd feed a few peas anyway, plecs love them.

Here are 2 pic's of here( you need to look closly, as they arent the best quality):

Is the white lining around the front of this particular fish normal?

I cannot see anything I'd describe as pine-coning in the picture, but then really you are the best judge of that as you can see the real life  She does look rather plump in the egg-holding area though.

If it is internal bacteria and you need to treat, treat the main tank. IME, when IB shows symptoms, it's usually too late to save the fish showing symptoms, but you can save those in the tank that have the infection but that aren't showing symptoms (which will usually be most of them if you have an IB outbreak on your hands), by running them through treatment :good:

All the best

The white pinning has always been there. She hasn't bred in almost 2 months. The male and the fry in that tank look fine. I will try and get a better pic later.
