I have a 65 gallon Hexagon tank with one cracked panel. Breaks my heart. I was curious if anyone has ever repaired cracked glass, replaced a panel or what?

My idea was to sandwich the crack with two scrap pieces of glass one on the inside primarily and one on the outside. I had a piece of mirror cut the same shape as the panel. Thought it would give it an interesting look.

I am open to suggestions, and thanks.

If it's cracked, I don't think I would trust the glass anymore. You wouldn't be too confident if you had three pieces of glass sandwiched together to hold a couple hundred pounds of water. I know I wouldn't.

I thing a safer option would be to remove the broken panel and replace it with a new piece. I would have thought that most glass or glazing suppliers would cut you a replacement piece of glass, and fitting it is not a terribly difficult job to do.

Use a cheese cutter of fine razor blade to slice down the joins.

Make sure you get all the old silicon off before you refit the now piece.

I had glass cut for some weirs locally. 24"x 12". They charged me £5 each.
