Hi all im currently setting up 15 tanks in 2 6ft metal frames (12 breeding in 1 & 3 main ones in the other and taking its time putting together lol) anyway noticed a crack about 3 inches long on the base of one of the main ones coming from the back, would i be able to put sealant over it to stop it cracking further or try water in it to see wether it's leaking or not ....dont really want to buy a new tank if i can help it Thanks

I'm no expert but I would have to say no, I think the sealant would possibly hold for a while but over time would eventually leak again and cause a big mess. I guess you could always tear it down take off the old sealant and replace the cracked glass but in the long run that would probably counting the cost and time be more of a hassle than buying another tank. I live in Pennsylvania and I've seen plenty of tanks at yard sales for very little, don't know how easy used tanks are to come by there but if you can get them it'd be alot less financial problem, just fill it up and let it set for a few days to make sure no leaks. Like I said I'm no expert, so others here who have had this problem will probably give you a better answer, good luck.

You could patch it, get a stip of glass at least 2in wider than the crack - 2in longer , and glassbond it.
