Covering The Bowl

Hi, i was thinking of buying a bowl with a betta to put on my desk. I have seen one in my lfs for about £10, what i a wondering is how will i be able to cover the top of the bowl so the betta doesnt jump out?

what sort of bowl is it..size wise...if you have a wilkos store they do one for £4.99 plastic though with a lid!

When searching for housing, please make sure it is a minimum of 1g - regardless of what pet stores say, nothing smaller is appropriate for a betta.
As for a lid, if the container you are buying does not come with one, you can make one out of the plastic canvas used when doing needlepoint. You can find it at just about any craft store very inexpensively. The other option would be to buy a very fine netting (like the kind aquarium fishnets are made of) and stretch it tightly over the top, then secure it with a rubberband. I like the former option because it is a little more attractive, and most pellets fit right through the holes for feeding.

Hi, i decidid to go with liz's idea. so i went to wilko's and bought an 11 litre tank (2.5 gallon?).
On the way home i thought i'd have a quick look in Pets at home, i was browsing through the fish to see if there were any bettas i could possibly get at the weekend when the tank was set up. A women that worked there came and asked me if i needed help. So i said "hi, do you have any Betta's?", and she gave me a puzzled look , so then i added "fish". She then replied with "sorry, we only have whats here", still with the puzzled look on here face. At this point i slowly wlked away and out of the shop.

Well this shows i wont be getting any fish from there any time soon.

Bret, I think you hit a home run with that statement Sadly thats only too true for a lot of store emplyees... Though some go the extra mile and actually try to learn about what they're selling, most I've met dont.

DooH! A Home Run!!! Wow, never hit one of them before. apart from in baseball in PE lol, anyway yeah, sadly most people dont know what there selling. the bad lfs round me, i asked for the "Fighter" they said, do we have them i was like WOAH!
