Hi guys :)
Sorry to be a bother but I have a few different questions to ask ^^'

1: I'd love some ideas as to what I could put in with my betta sorority. The stocking is the bottom line in my signature, and as my betta girls are the largest group of fish in there, I thought I'd come here to ask if certain fish would mix ok with them. I'm really interested in dwarf neon rainbows (or any of the other rainbow species)- anyone think this could work? My girls are surprisingly very laid back and don't even argue with each other, even though they're fully grown. My tank is very heavily planted so lots of hiding spaces. They'd be ok with a BN plec too, right?

2: I have my calm little male Seaweed in my 60ltr with so far only 4 corys for company. As long as he's fine with them (only just introduced them, but things are looking ok), and he shows no aggression, do you think I could add a mix of Galaxy rasbora and Emerald Rasbora? :EDIT: Just seen him flare for the very firs time :p He flared at a cory, then ignored it in order to flare at his own reflection.

3: Third and final question now, I promise! One of my female bettas has me worried. She looks like a runt basically- she's much thinner and smaller than all the other females (got them all at the same time), she eats well, but has no ventral fins (didn't have them when I bought her) and is a bit slower moving. No one picks on her, and she does mix with the rest of the group. I thought that over time and with some TLC she'd improve, but I'm wondering now if this is just the way she's going to be? Or could it be another reason?

Thanks for any answers or suggestions

Bump? No ideas at all?

didnt wanna read and run ;)

are rasboras nippy or not? whereabouts do they like to be in a tank? i suppose it depends on that (and water requirements obviously)

i wouldnt know about a betta sorority sorry.

as for the runt, i guess as long as she isnt ill, is eating and pooping fine, and mixing with the others, theres not really any need for concern is there?

1. I don't know too much about rainbows, so I'll leave that to someone who knows more about them. The BN pleco, on the other hand, should be fine.

2. Rasboras are a peaceful fish so they shouldn't nip. You would be okay with a school of 6 of just one kind of rasbora.

3. I wouldn't worry too much about her. Like fluffy said, if she doesn't seem ill she's probably just a smaller girl. Are the females sisters?

Sorry about not replying sooner, uni work has been hectic for the past couple of days. I really appreciate the comments ^^

Things seem to be going really well with Seaweed (my male) and the corys, so I think I may try him with the Rasboras after a good few weeks. I had heard that they're peaceful, but I didn't want to make any decisions without advice first, so thanks for that BetttaCrazy7 :good: Now I've just got to decide with which species to go with :D

I think I'll go and ask in the Cyprinids, Characins and Atherinids section of the forum then about the sorority. I've taken a liking to danios too now :p

And thank you both for the reassurance about my smallest girl, I guess that's just the way she's going to be like. I don't know if they are from the same spawn, I got 4 of my other girls from the same person as Niamh (my runt). All others are fine, at a nice weight- Niamh is the only one without ventrals though, so maybe a different spawn?

Cheers again guys!

I wouldn't do danios with a sorority. They are absolutely insane and I can tell you that female bettas don't like that much insanity. I had one female in with some male guppies (she was the sole survivor of an ich attack brought on by a featherfin catfish I didn't bother to quarantine...learned my lesson there!) and the guppies were always busy. It wasn't even 24 hours after I added the guppies and my little girl had latched herself onto the tail of the most annoying male and absolutely would not let go. I finally had to net both of them out and it wasn't until they were clear of the water that she finally let go.

As far as your little female goes...I had one female at one point who was the tiniest thing in the tank, but she DEFINITELY ruled the tank.

Yeah, I was worried about the danios high activity levels tbh, and that of their temperature range, which seems to be pretty low. Shame though as they are such gorgeous fish :p

Any ideas on rainbowfish? Or anything else that would make for interesting and colourful tank mates?

Niamh doesn't rule the tank, but everyone seems to leave her alone most of the time. She's had a few nips to her tail, but all in all, the others ignore her. I might put some pictures up soon tbh, as she's not even the same shape as the other girls. I just want to confirm that there is nothing wrong with her, and that I've done all that I can in case there is something wrong.

I have my two girls in with harlequin rasbora. They are fun and active, and while they aren't OVERLY colorful, they make up for it in personality. I don't have any experience with any type of rainbowfish, so I can't advise on that one. Although your girls might be okay with some dwarf neon rainbows.

1. Well, Defintly BN's are fine... there awsome little peaceful fish, who have so much personality :good: Get one or two for your tank, and you will be hooked :fun:

2. That seem's fine... Remember to take Seaweed out, re-arange the decorations, put the other fish in, then plop Seaweed in again  That way, he won't get territorial.

3. Don't worry about her... some fishy's are just smaller, but they are still fine with good personality. As long as they arn't bullying her, she'll totally bee fine :good:

I would love to see pics of your gal's and Seaweed

Cheers for the suggestions :good:
Dwarf neon rainbows were something else I was looking at- hopefully I'll find something suitable soon. At least I know that a BN plec is a definite yes :D

Zophie: Yarrr, that's what I was thinking with Seaweed too- I put the corys in before him, and he seems to be doing really well with them. Doesn't pay them any attention at all. And thanks for the re-assurance about Niamh ^^

I'll be going home for half term this weekend, so I'll try and get some updated pictures of them for you ^^ Seaweeds tail is starting to re-grow nicely, although very slowly.

Thanks again!
