I recently aquired a new 60 gallon at a sale and I am planning on moving my small cichlid family in as soon as possible. I have one Yellow Lab, one Cobalt Blue that runs the place, another beauty that I need to have you fine folks identify for me sometime, and three Clown loaches who are hearty and healthy. All of the fish are around 4 inches long except for the loaches who range from 2-3 inches.

First question is this:
The glass is rather frosted be the minerals that come in the local areas water, I think it is lime.
What would be a good product to clean this that would be safe for fish after a very thorough
rinse?

Second question:
They will be moving from the too small 33 gallon to a 60 gallon, can I simply transfer the
gravel, water, filter/pump, add 27 gallons of new water, let it sit for a few hours and add
my Cichlids?

Thanks in advance for any ideas. Now if i can just figure out this new pump I will be grand.

Vinegar works well at removing mineral deposits, I have the same problem with hard water.

There is no reason to let it sit, once you have added the gravel, decos, water, heater, & filter, add the fish. It's really no different than doing a 50% water change, something I do on many of my tanks weekly. Just make sure the tank temperature is the same as the water the fish are in.
