Got a new tank which is my b/fs (we have different tastes lol). . currently have( i know sum arent in the right numbers and arent idea together)

2 Rainbow fish
3 swordtails (1 male 2 female)
4 female fighters (male to be added later, he is in my tank)
2 Albino alge eaters
1 red plec
and one small silvercloud minnow (he sneaked in the plecs bag so will need to get him some friends)

Firstly the rainbows developed white spot which the spread nicely so treating that. The problem with them tho is what do the eat?? I thought they were plant eaters but they dont seem to be eating anything i put in for them. They take it in then spit it back out.

Secondly one of the female fighters (she is ablino) someone has gave her a good few nips during the night. But her tail and fins seem to have changed to a brown colour. Its like brown spots but not as defined at spots. Will try to get some pics later.

Also one of the alge eaters has some sore of marking on his body near his tail. It looks like a black bruise. Didnt notice it when he was picked out at me LFS. Is this a bruise or is it just a normal defect? again will get pictures later

Sorry for probably sounding so dim but iv never had or been interested in these smaller more "pathetic" kind of fish before.

Hi, welcome to the forum,

How big is the tank? How long has it been set up? what are the readings for pH, ammonia, nitrIte and nitrAte? What kind of fish are your albino algae eaters?

I wouldn't recommend adding the male betta, the 4 females will be picking at each other as they should be in a group of at least 6 to even out aggression.

:hi:

the tank is 2ft by 1 by 1

Been set up for 2 weeks fishless and now 2 weeks with fish.

The fighters seems to be fine with each other, more will be added it was just the best 4 picked out to suit our boy.

The algae eaters were sold just as algae eaters, they had the normal coloured ones too, pretty sure they are siamese. Hope they arent the chinese ones. He came with it and seems pretty happy and is swimming about normally so hoping its just a marking.

Sam - yeah im aware of how big they will grow, currently they are tiny so when they do get too big i will move them into the other tank.

Yeah that pretty much looks like them. Which means they are the chinese ones. Will try and get a pic of his mark later.

Got some different herbivore flake today so will see how that goes down with the rainbows tonight.
