i have it tied to a piece of slate, will it anchor to the slate or will it float awa when the cotton rots?

and also it keeps getting particles caught in it how does one prevent this from happening?

bits of sand food fishy poo. anything thats in my tank seems to get stuck in the moss and i end up fanning it off with my alge scraper...

i`m thinking of adding a power head to blow over the top of the slate its attached to don`t know how powerfill they are though as my tank already has alot of flow

I have attached mine to slate too. It will grip on most things the surface of slate should not cause it a problem.

You can try and syphon the dirt from the moss with a tube or get some shrimp as they're quite fond of cleaning it.

It also needs plenty of nitrates to really thrive and will consume these at a fast rate.

I tied down some moss to a piece of slate about 6 weeks ago and it seems to be attaching to the slate. I think the trick is to tie it down fairly tight and not too thick. The string will take a long time to rot away and the moss should be attached by then. As for the particles getting caught in it, I don't know if you can prevent it but what I do is hover a gravel vac over it to gently suck up the particles.

How do I boost the nitrates then?

Btw is that NO3 if so mine are at a little over 10 going by the colour chart on my tester.

Thanks

WMD

ahhh the nitrates may be a problem as my tank is understocked for now (untill everything grows up)

any my nitrates rarely ever hit 10ppm,

i do add liquid fert to the tank with each water change and i have the moss in the best place possible for the light.

shrimp arent an option as the angels will eat them.

i`m looking at turning the tank into a heavily planted one with 3.5 wpg and added co2 and laterite in the substrate, along with added liquid ferts

will the moss be able to cope with the crud build up if i brush it off every few days?

should i be worried about all these bloke buttering you up with plantage?

as if, you know your the only man for me

 lol

in exchange for snails anyway hun, not just a freebie :)

ahh thats ok then,

aslong as i don`t need to get mmy pimp mobile out and go slap some mo fo upside the head
.

back to the moss

will it definately be able to attach to a smooth slate surface?
