I've read the posts concerning the snails in betta tanks. Would I be able to put a snail in one of my betta 2.5 mini bows? I figured that if they don't get along together then I could put the snail in his own little bowl or something. Would that be ok? -_-

Hmmm. From what I've heard the snail alone needs at least 2 gallons of water himself. So, I'm not really sure. I had issues with the snail pooping too much and dirtying the water in a five gallon, but other people have had no issues at all.

Actually, they produce an enormous amount of waste, but it's actually easier cleaning up snail poop than uneaten food.

I have had nothing but bad experience with snails and bettas. All my bettas have harassed the snails to no end and now I have 2 snails who won't come out of their shells even after being in a betta free tank for 3 weeks. It really depends on the betta though. You might be lucky enough to have one that won't bug it much.

Thanks for the replies! I should probably wait just to be sure, do some more research. If I get a super-pooper snail like some of you seem to have then i'd end up changing the tanks more often. If I get one then i'll probably start out with him/her in their own little bowl, and then depending on how poopy it is, I'd put it in a tank and see how they get along.
Just a thought, can you put salt in a tank if ther's a snail in there? :/

theoretically there should never been uneaten food in a betta tank....so unless you plan on overfeeding the tank and then cleaning 2x more than normal in the long run, i wouldnt recommend it!

I use mine for fry tanks. Lot easier to clean up snail poop than uneaten miniscule fry food, and fry poop. They go live with the adults when I'm using the fry tanks to breed. Just popped three of my snails back into fry tanks, and they're still a little nervy, but they've figured out that the fry can't hurt them and aren't anywhere near as annoying or scary as the adults.

Three of my other snails are still in a female Betta tank with 6 female Bettas, two Croaking Gouramis, and three African Dwarf Frogs, and they move around the tank, for the most part, like the fish aren't even there...they just keep their feelers to themselves.

I have mystery snails in my fry tank and my 2.5 gallon. Never had a problem with them. Except the snails die often... ~_- Not the bettas.
