hi all

Bit of a random question but here it goes,

Started keeping tropical fish about 12 months ago and took advise on setting up tank, introing fish etc

Order of fish going in tank (not all at once, over a period of time)

3 Mollies
2 baby angels
2 rams
and a plec being the last in

After about 2 weeks of the plec going in the fish slowly started dying/disappearing with no reason or any illness in the tank.

Now i am left with one mollie and the plec, the other day whilst watching the 1 sad mollie swimming around i noticed that every time the mollie swam any lower the the bottom half of the tank the plec would come shooting out chasing the mollie away. I even noticed that when the mollie was feeding the plec would try hit the mollie with his nose pushing the mollie away from the food.

I asked a friend if there could be any chance that the plec could of beaten/ bullied the other fish to death.

I might sound crazy but just a thought.

Has anyone had any sad experiace like this?

cheers, wesley

Size of tank in gallons or litres?
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph?

What type of plec is it?

hey its a 125 ltr tank

ammonia 0
nitrite 5
nitrate 0
ph 7.2

regarding the plec, i really couldn't tell you, its about 6" long 2.5" wide, deep brown in colour with gold/orange spots on it.

cheers, wesley

can you supply a picture of the plec? this way the guys would most likely be able to identifi it for you, i "belived" plecs only attacked dead or dieing fish, or if the fish you had were around the size of his mouth.....well who knows get a pic up for us :)

EDIT;lol, razer beat me to it.!

How long have you had the nitrite reading?
Water change.

I would put a pic up of the plec in tropical discussion, to find out which type of plec it is.
