cheers :good:

hi
a gravid spot is a dark area near the anal fin, depending on the coluor of your fish as to weather you will see it or not, with my orange platy i cant really see it but she just gets bigger until she has the fry roughly every 4 weeks.the lighter colour fish the better to see the gravid spot hth donna :)

Ive got 3 female guppies, very light in colour and they got very dark gravid spots, not sure if they are pregnant tho, cos females have the dark spot anyway dont they?

Hi,

Your females are all most likely pregnant unless your male is shooting blanks :X Usually once they start breeding you can't stop them. Plus they can store sperm for 6 months and still have a batch of babies every month. I ended up taking all the males out and selling them as it was getting ridiculous. One managed to hide out though but i've caught him now and he's in a different tank.

Emma :)

they will give birth when their abdomen swells up (not dropsy lol) and when you look at them from a head on view, the stomach appears to be sort of a "W" shape. then it will give birth in a matter of days unless it has more fry than its suppsoed to then it will give birth in a week or so.

changing the water can help aid the pregnancy. They usually give birth after a water change.
