I have a 1.5 inch columbian shark, when I got home to day from school I saw him rubbing against things. And when I opened up the lid to feed my fish he went absolutely BERSERK (He was swimming faster than I could ever imagine) hitting terrain and gravel. Now he is wollowing on the floor (its the first time ive seen him stop moving for more than one second.)

HELP!!! Thanks.

Do you see any white specks on the fish (looks like salt has been sprinkled on it)?

A few things: WHat size tank is the shark in? One thing to remember....Colombian Sharks can get up to 2 feet long (although 1 foot is the norm), and although they are sold as freshwater, they are best suited for a brackish aquarium. Like most Brackish species, the young are more tolerant of water conditions than the adults. The water should have some sea salt added and measure a salinity of 1.005 to 1.015. The tank itself must be very large with good filtration and water movement.

I dont see any spots, he is only around an inch and a half so the tank is plenty big ATM and he does not need salt yet either BTW, he is itching his head.

Restlessness and itching are the first signs that the fish needs to be moved into saltier water, at a time when it would be making a migration down stream into the esturies it is being forcably kept back by the glass walls. Get some salted water into the tank (never add salt directly) and then get a bigger tank ASAP, columbian sharks should never be kept in a tank so small not even as juviniles.

*sniff* WHY ME!!!!!!!!!

I got back from school and the fish was laying on the bottom of the gravel dead...could not having salt kill it that fast?

Now within one month, I have managed to some how kill one redtail and one columbian (im a newb)
