Could I Leave A Tank Unfiltered....

You should be fine doing what you plan! However, cycling the new tank with the oscar in will be difficult. you really need to have a fish in that if it were to die from ammonia, you would be ok. to cycle this tank it's going to take a while anyway, but much longer if you have to keep changing the water and taking out the ammonia, just to keep your fish alive. It may take much longer than you might think, just be aware of that, and also you should be constantly testing the water to make sure it's cycling properly.

Right, I'm not sure on the situation, but from what I can gather...

~Oscar is currently in a filtered 30g
~The 180g is going where the 30g is
~You evidently can't put the oscar in the community tank.

So, if thats the case., I think we're all missing the very obvious answer. The filter in the 30g has enough bacteria for the current population of the 30g. The current population of the 30g is going in the 180. So... put the filter from the 30 onto the 180... Just means more extra water, no more or less bioload.

clever. so you will only b lacking mechanical filteration which wont be a problem with daily siphoning

There won't be any extra waste though. As long as there isn't overfeeding to extremes, the slight lack of power doesn't matter much.
