I have a 46g tank with 7 rainbowfish (maybe down to 6 shortly :( ) and 8 cories. The guy at the lfs was telling me that he'd kept discus with rainbowfish and I was soooo tempted to try it, except for the size of my tank and the higher temps which would be bad for my cories.

My Turquoise Rainbowfish are dying :( I took one to the lfs the other day for possible recuperation. I was thinking maybe he had fungus or dropsy, but I don't know much about fish illnesses (thank goodness!) so I took him to the lfs and the owner said that it looked more like he was getting beat up on. Then today, I looked in and another one was dead, but I couldn't tell what had happened b/c the snails had already gotten him  I haven't SEEN my rainbowfish picking on each other, but I'm thinking about taking the remaining turquoise back for his own health (I'm going on the assumption that the other one didn't pull through, I'll find out tomorrow).

So. I'm thinking about maybe adding a pair of angels to my tank. Does that sound feasible? I'm going out of town next week through mid-August and wouldn't add any new fish before that, just to give things a chance to settle down in there.

i have 2 austrailian and 5 bosmani rainbows. they have never shown any aggression to each other, but i don't know alot about other kinds of rainbows so i could be wrong. rainbowfish info this is a good website with lots of info about them. as far as compatibility with angels, they tend to make good tank mates imho. but you don't want angels if your tank is less than 18" high.

Thanks Karri! My tank is 22" high top to bottom, so even including gravel and air space at the top of the tank, that's still about 20" of tank. I'll find out about the other turquoise rainbow (they are gorgeous!!!) tomorrow, I hope he made it, but am not optimistic - he was looking pretty poorly when I dropped him off.
