Hiya,

I have recently set up a new tank with is the new fluval, bow fronted with pre drilled base and external 205 filter, got several different plants in it which are all doing quite well thanks to the t5 lighting system  but one of the plants seems to have a kind of cotton wool look to it on the this string like leaves, any idea what this could be  , new to fish keeping, the fish i have in the tank so far are, 4 danio's (3 males and 1 female i think) 2 male and 2 female swords, 2 pepper corry's, a large plec and an algae shrimp.

Any advice will be more than welcome, thanks. :good:

what colour is the cotton wool stuff?
Black wool stuff is likely algae
White wool stuff could be fungus but more likely some filter floss from a filter.

Hi Colin,

It was white in colour, cant be from filter as it is an external filter, i have since cut off the bit of the plant that had it on it and when i washed it under the tap it was slightly slimey, thinking fungus??, if it is should i just remove the affected leaf as it is a new tank set up, only been running 3 weeks.

Cheers

Kevin

yeah I would just cut off the damaged leaf and see how things go.
