My male swordtail has what appears to be connot wisps on his mouth and hes trying to eat them, not sure if its cotton mouth, cotton from my filter that may have escaped or something else, Any help would be great!
the white whisp is gone i think it might have been a piece of the cotton from my filter, i've been medicating the tank for tail/fin rot and cotton mouth. some of the fish are like completely healed from visable signs and the rest are doing better. one of my fish got really sick and a posted a topic asking about it but noone is answering me so far.
my tank stats are
Temp: 78
nitrate: 0
nitrite: 0
PH: 6.7
Ammonia: less than .2 (am doing daily water changes, since ammonia spike, has gone down from .7 in 3 days - stopped daily changes until completed meds cycles)
I saw the other post, but then got called to eat dinner, so i didn't have time to read it or respond. I'll look at that in a second, but I do want to comment that it is best to do daily water changes as long as there is any ammonia, even though .2 is a fairly low number. Any ammonia will stress out the fish.
That is one of the weaker antibiotics avaliable. If possible switch to either kanacyn (kanamyicin) or a combo of Maracyn (eythromyicin) AND Maracyn 2 (minocycline). Kanacyn is a good broad spectrum antibiotic which won't hurt your bacteria, which as you have already noticed, you are having problems with. Maracyn and Maracyn 2 work for only gram positive or gram negative bacteria, respectivly. This is also safe and won't hurt your filter
