What is the name of the virus in my fish tank? It's like cotten wool. Two of my fish have died of it along with 3 fry.
I'm very worried that the virus is strong in my tank since I was out for a day and when I got back one fish had died and was covered in cotten wool and was badly decomposed. :-(
Today another fish had cotten wool around it's eyes and mouth.
What medication can I buy to cure it please?

Sounds like fungus. Do a 50% water change immediately and add a good med. 'JUNGLE Fungus Eliminator' is a good choice.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your fish, I hope the others recover!

are you thinking of columnaris?

columnaris causes mouth fungus but theres also fungus that attacks when the fish have an injury or a sore and is known as a secondary disease, and looks like tufts of cotton wool.when a fish is dead fungus multiplies really quickly and will cover a body in a couple of hours. theres lots of treatments for fungus, but only if caught early enough.
columnaris is a bacteria that starts as a thin grey covering on the head and can spread to the fins and rest of the body.
with this disease you are more likely to see red bordered sores and frayed fins and then the mouth starts to rot away.
what kind of fish are affected and what do you have in the tank? keeping your water in really good condition means lots of regular water changes with gravel vacs to keep bacteria down.
