so stocking by for a 25 gallon pond I am going to add a pair of guppy’s but I’ve never breed Cory’s before so I was thinking of adding 6 Cory’s or j can breed bristlenose but I’ve already breed heaps of them I live in Australia. Any suggestions if I should try Cory’s I was thinking panda Cory’s.

is there a heater in the pond?
also I think more than 6 cories maybe 10+ would make them breed more frequently
they breed when the water temperature drops

If this is actually a 25g pond, it is not suited to a group of cories, Cories need groups around 10+, but there are other issues here. The temperature for one. I believe it gets very warm (most would probably use the word hot) in Austrailia, and the pond temperature is likely to be very warm, especially given the size--there is no depth so the poor fish can get down to cooler water. No cories should be kept at or above 80F/27C and pandas even cooler, around 75-76F/24C.

t dosent get hotter than that I have pothos peace Lilly’s and spider grass surrounding the pond and in the pond

Water is primarily warmed by two factors, direct sunlight and ambient air temperature. I won't debate the temperatures in Australia, but other members have frequently given them as very high. But aside from that, the size is too limiting. There is the area, but also the depth. Fish in a pond have to escape predation by birds, and a shallow pond is a death knell to fish. Obviously this will apply to the guppies too. I had a 125 gallon pond in my backyard, with two small goldfish. Twice I tried this, both times the heron once and the raccoon the second got the fish.

Do you now any good ponds I could get my from bunning the reason I want to use this pond is because it fits in its place perfectly and I want it to look good I’m going to get lot of plants surrounding it.

Given my experience with my 125g pond, if I were to do a pond again I would dig the pond out and make sure it was at least 3 feet (90 cm) in the deepest. This allows you to place heavy rocks at the bottom to create hiding places, or the depth is too great for terrestrial animals to stand in it and eat the fish at leisure.

Yeah mines dug into the concrete it’s blocked by the bricks becaue the bricks are build up next to it

That could/will make a very nice pond. I'd be concerned over the fish though.

Do you not think Cory’s would work do you think bristlenose plecos instead of Cory’s and instead is guppys I could do rainbow fish.

Cories need more space and cooler temperatures. I would not subject them to this. As for the other fish, there is still the predator issue, maybe a cover of chicken wire would help, but it depends upon the predator. I had raccoon and once they knew there was a pond with fish, they were relentless in absolutely tearing the entire garden to shreds around the pond.

Yeah I’m lucky the birds don’t come near the pond I’ve had it set up before with guppy’s for about 4 months and no birds or anything killed them

Hello Benji. I'm guessing the weather where you live and have this tank outdoors is very mild year round. Otherwise, Corydoras aren't going to live long if their water gets too cool. Of course, you could keep a tank heater.
