hello all

On friday i went out and bought 4 albino bronze cory as buddies for the pepperd cory that i adopted from a friend, one just sat up on top of the filter stright away and wasnt moving around at all and dyed around to hours ago, now i have noticed that 2 more have stopped swimming around and they are breathing very shallow. all readings are fine
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 20
ph 7
temp 26
they are not showing any signs of illness, only staying still and breathing sallow.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

hmph thats interesting since the water quality looks pretty good. Accidentally put a chemical in the tank or forget to dechlorinate? What are the tankmates? How long it been set up?

Corys generally like to sit still from time to time. If they don't shuffle around at all for a while then you start worrying.

My Sterbai are more active at night.

no havent put anything near the tank chemical wise, always treat my water when changing it, my tank has been set up almost 6 months now i think.
60L (2 filters running, fluval 2+ and elite stingray 15)
3 albino bronze cory
1 pepperd croy
1 baby albino shark around 2' (i know these get big but getting a 4 foot next month)
1 swordtail
3 platies
2 sailfin mollies

i had exactly the same problem with a bronze cory a couple of months ago. she stayed like that for over a week, wouldnt eat wouldnt move and would just sit there breating slowly. eventually she died, everyone else was fine and the water was perfect. i still dont know what happened. hopefully yours will perk up a bit more. i believe albinos are a bit more sensitive though, may be wrong

thanks i hope so too, already lost one now there are 2 more like it, even when i fed them they didnt budge, the biggest one is still going strong at the moment.

Is your lighting particularly strong? Being albino they may be upset because they don't have a place to seek shade and lack pigment in their eyes, so its extra blinding and stressful. Since its only hapenning now and you introduced them a few days ago I doubt this is it... but how did you acclimate them? It might just be the fish species too. Some jsut don't adjust. For instance with rummy nosed tetras you've got a huge chance in the first few weeks. Good luck with it, I hope everything turns out ok!
