Hi there,

I got home from work today only to find my oldest cory swimming aimlessly upside down and around and around :(

seems like one of his gills is a bit red.

Water levels are all normal, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite and 20ppm nitrate. What could have caused this? I have added 6 other corys 2 weeks ago, could these have bought a disease in?

Jonno.

caught him in a fry trap and took some photos... sitting up now doing nothing...

fins look a bit battered?

Possible parasites or fin and tail rot by the finnage deteriorating.

Red specifically on the gills and only the gills is fine. It means they are just stressed. Red under the gills may be septecemia.
Hemorrhagic Septicemia

when it is upside down you can see the red from underneith the fish so it sounds like septicimia to me :(

obviously there is no cure... he is in a breeding trap at the moment. is there any risk to my other fish?

fyi he is about 1 year old - a lot older than my others (came in from my old tank).
